In my early days of retirement, as I walked along the shore, I was amazed at all the shimmering black volcanic sand that mixed with the white. I had seen these striations for decades here in El Palmar but looked at them with a new pair of eyes as I began living on an almost daily basis at the beach. I took many photos of all those beautiful patterns of sand and rocks that were  magically formed by the daily oceanic flows. My next step was to take these textures and designs to canvas with bright colors, a different level of expression from the black and white versions in the sand.
