When I retired from my art teacher position in Japan, I came back to live at my partially constructed home in El Palmar. My intention was to paint everyday. Goals are a big part of my life, however, I have learned that it is the habits that truly make you a person of integrity. Much swayed me from my objectives, like building the rest of my house and reestablishing a sense of community. Slowly, but surely, I reached a happy medium and my desire to spend more time in front of my easel was resurrected. For sure, it is not the destination that is important, but the journey.
